Holy smoke, you're right! I looked up the Minchas Chinuch to Mitzvah 22 on פדיון פטר חמור and it was right there. He says its a machlokes Rambam and Tosfos Kiddushin daf 8a if a kohenes can accept pidyon!
So it is a perfect machlokes l'shitosom regarding the issue if a female kohen has a pseul Zar.
I wonder why the connection wasn't made by earlier meforshim?
After thinking about it a little more, I can explain why pidyon bechoros isn't so surprising and wasn't included in this list of nafka minos.
The Brisker Rav holds that a kohen receiving pidyon--either money for a ben, or animals--is a form of matnas kehunah. It is similar to receiving reishis hagez or chozeh v'shok of korbonos. And we know that women kohanim can eat terumoh and chozeh v'shok, etc. So it isn't so unusual to push this into accepting pidyonos. because pidyonos could be looked at like collecting terumoh or reishis hagez.
But these dimin of checking mar'eh negoim, and being temple guards has nothing to do with mantan kehunoh.
"To me, this illustrates how immune (or maybe oblivious) the Briskers are to any kind of political agendas that may be promoted in the course of their learning. They call it as they see it and let the chips fall where they may"
You have got to be kidding. Have you ever learnt techeiles with a brisker? I have tried...
Doesn't tosafas say explicitly somewhere that a daughter of a kohen can perform a pidyon haben?
Maybe. Sounds vaguely familiar. If it exists, I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned by Reb Meshulam Dovid.
Please try to track it down.

Don't thank me, I heard it from Rabbi Aryeh Lebowitz, director of YU semicha program. I heard it from him on his daf yomi shiur.
Well, thank you for bringing it to my attention!
Awesome! Almost like Torah Jews actually *do* care about what the Torah says 😮
Thanks! But you had a better emoji last time, Yg. You gotta keep your game up.
